Mike and Misty started Upgrade Taos Computer Solutions in March 2005. With over 30 years of combined computer related experience, technology has influenced each of them their whole lives.
Michael Bruce
Mike has been working on and around computers since 1986. He has always been the type to carry a screwdriver in his pocket, prepared to take apart anything electronic to make it work better. His first computer job was configuring a computerized vinyl cutter when he was just 12 years old. Mike has the ability to quickly seize and conquer any technical difficulties your electronic device may encounter.
"In the many years I have seen changes in the modern office and home office. I specialize in helping the professional and home user get the most out of their computer and equipment."
Mike came back to Taos in 1997 after attending New Mexico State University for four years to start his first computer service business known as 'The Computer Dude'. His technical expertise expands far beyond your normal computer geek, but as a guitar musician and a technology enthusiast, Mike has become an expert at audio/ video recording and editing.
Misty Eckman
Misty became interested in computer programming in 1991. When she was 10 years old, a Commodore VIC-20 was given to her as a hand-me-down from her uncle. By this time the VIC-20 was also 10 years old, but was an excellent place to get started.
"The first program I ever wrote was an artificial intelligence simulation, which conversed by asking different questions based on your answers. It was a simple program, but at that point I knew I could really get good at this programming stuff."
Misty has always considered herself to be an artist of many mediums. She plays guitar and piano; she sings, writes and draws. She designed her first web site in 1998, and has never stopped designing. Web design has become her primary source of artistic outlet.
She attended New Mexico State University where she received formal education in several areas of graphics design. Through 14 years of experimentation and self-teaching, Misty has become thoroughly knowledgeable in administration of web servers on all operating platforms, and specific web based coding languages related to their required operating system.
